As far back as anyone can remember, Deborah Edwards has been ministering the songs of zion to Gods people. She comes from a family of ministers. She began singing to the glory of God as a child. At the age of eleven she found herself at the Temple Church of Christ in Saint Louis, Mo., under the direction of her mother. She has sang in youth choirs, young adult choirs, chancel and adult choirs, always astounding the congregation with her music ministry for Praise and Worship, with particular emphasis on the Ministry of Worship.
Deborah grew up listening to gospel artists such as The Hawkins, The Winans, Andre Crouch, Richard Smallwood Singers, Thomas Whitfield, Sandy Patti, Amy Grant and James Cleveland. Although, her inspiration and role model was Tramaine Hawkins;she has shared the stage with the Winans and Richard Smallwood Singers during her singing career.
On many occasions in her home town, she's found worshipping the God of her salvation in music ministry. She has also performed for college students, ministering in their First Gospel Extravaganza;frequently ministering in song at special services, such as weddings, banquets, anniversary services, as well as home-going celebrations.
She is called on to minister locally, in Women Conferences, Sunday School Conferences and Pentecostal Mid-Western District Council Services. She's opened for the Gospel Comedian “Bonz” and has sang on the UPN Broadcasting Television Network on their Victory In Praise cable broadcast, which was shown in St. Louis, Illnois and other surrounding cities.
She ministers for pastors anniversaries, special birthday celebrations as well as retirement parties. Local radio personalities and announcers have called on her for their special services. When she was a member of the Missouri Gospel Announcers Guild (GAG), she sang at their Grand Opening Celebration, receiving a standing ovation.
Her tone of music has been known to be spiritual, passionate, uplifting and earnest, as is her life for God. Her voice has been anointed by God to bring comfort to many bereaved and hurting families during difficult times and has been instrumental in many giving their lives to Christ. She ministers yearly in concert, which is sponsored by different ministries from her home church for fund-raising projects.
Deborah has been found loyally serving the music ministry at her home church. She has served as the President, Assistant Minster of Music, and the Minister of Music. She currently, serves as the Music Administrator and the Minister of Discipleship.
After ministering in song for many years, the Lord extended his favor by blessing Deborah with her first Praise & Worship, CD entitled, “NO CROSS, NO CROWN”, on August 4, 2002.
It is and always has been her desire to sing for God and God alone. She is looking for the Lord to continue to use her in the music ministry by drawing others to him. Her prayer has been for him to take the music that he has given her and use it to minister to the hearts, minds and souls of his people, causing changes to take place in their lives.
She wants to be instrumental in souls running to the mercy seat, the lost returning to him and the hurting to find refuge in the times of troubles and peace in the times of their storms.
Her title song alone encourages the heart and causes one to realize that regardless to what we as God’s people may have to go through, no matter how heavy the burden, challenge, struggle or persecution, we have a victory in knowing the Lord. And, as long as we submit to God and resist the devil, we will receive that crown of life that God has prepared for those who love him.
It has become her constant prayer that, God’s message of hope, life and redemption be found in, as well as point souls to Christ through the ministry of music, he has endowed her with.
