Presenting The Gospel Through Music And Testimony
Finley Duke is a minister who God uses through music as well as preaching. Providing a service of music that ministers to the heart and soul.
Finley comes from a background of secular country music and western movies. Finley's western background and testimony can touch those that relate to horses and the western lifestyle and perhaps even the rough life, as well as those that need encouragement and feel that God can't use them or they have tried and failed. Jesus
is the answer. The music is traditional country gospel with old favorites that you know and can sing along with and, newer songs that you will want to remember. Nothing fancy or phony, just plain and simple. The straight gospel.
FROM THE HISTORIC RED RIVER VALLEY
WHERE THE GREAT WESTERN CATTLE TRAIL CROSSES THE RED RIVER IN TEXAS..TO THE GANGS OF LOS ANGELES IN THE 50'S SEEMS A LONG AND UNLIKELY PATH TO THE 90'S AND A SPECIAL RECOGNITION BY THE GOVERNOR OF TEXAS FOR HIS CONTRIBUTION TO COUNTRY GOSPEL MUSIC.
Finley was born and lived in Vernon, Texas until the family headed west to California. Finley's father found work in the Los Angeles area at an aircraft plant. The family moved to Culver City where things seemed a lot better, even in the poorer projects where they found inexpensive but comfortable housing. He was 15, his brothers were 12 and 8 his little sister was 5. The neighborhood was a little rough if you wanted to hang out, and Finley did...he was also enrolled in Venice High School, a pretty tough school to attend.
Finley became envolved with some neighborhood boys who wanted to start their own gang..then things changed for the small town Texas boy of 15.
God had a watchful eye and a helping hand to provide protection and an eventual way back to the normal life..Then military service, country music, gospel music and eventually back to Texas.. the long way around with a lot in between.
