Cindy Tilkens(Songbird) the youngest of five children, turned her life over to Jesus Christ in 1977 after years of searching for an answer. Songbird was Cindy's CB name when she found herself joining her husband, Jim, to drive an Eighteen Wheeler. Out on the road she began to sing her songs to the drivers and the others on the CB Radio. Drivers responded and she went to Nashville in 1986 to record her first album called "A Song in the Night" which includes the song "Let It Shine". Let It Shine had radio airplay and charted on the Indie Bullet Chart at #26 without promoters. 1990 she released her second Nashville album called "Morning Light"... including "One Perfect Rose" that also charted #12 on the Indie Chart. Other songs like "Song in the Night" went #1 on certain radio stations. When Cindy was out on the Road, she sang on the CB to the Truckers and shared her faith in Jesus Christ. There were many opportunities to talk to the drivers while going down the road, about God's Love, and to sing songs.
After her husband retired Songbird traveled doing her concerts all over the United States for five years in Truckstops, Resorts, and Churches. Her latest album "Family", also recorded in Nashville, has a song called Family that states unconditional love- no matter how much hurt has come from them.
The chorus of Family says: "You're My Family, You will always be. There is nothing in this life can make that change for me. You're my Family. Though we disagree. But the Ties of love can hold us through eternity. You're my family." This album has helped people in families to forgive each other.
Cindy now has written over 200 songs. On her website you can find a song called "I'll See You Again Someday" - and listen to clips of her songs from all three albums.
"Let It Shine", on her first album, has changed her life, and God has used that song to move mountains of sadness, fear, pain, and doubt out of Cindy's life. God remains the "Rock" and goes through the storm with us, and is our strength. "He still shines, if we let him shine through us". Shining is not about "us", it is all about "HIM" - Jesus. |
